Dr. Wayne Wiekhorst has been practicing in New River for the past 16 years. He started Foothills Veterinary Service in 1985. He is a graduate of The University of Illinois. Dr. Wayne lives in New River with his wife, Linda, their dogs, Norman and  Zima, their cat, Calamity Jane, and the rest of their menagerie, including their horses, sheep, Midget, their pygmy goat, Levi the llama, and 17 peacocks.
